Friday, Jan. 27, 2006: Questions Looking for Answers

The interview went well today despite my initial nervousness at perhaps working in an environment so alien to those I am used to. The grounds of the school are huge and the whole place reeks of "old money" - will I be out of my depth? Time to leave my comfort zone if I am to succeed here .... have to get the job first, though.

The three staff who interviewed me were nice, none of the questions were too difficult and I was told that they would be making the decision within the next couple of days. I was chuffed to receive a phone call from the agency this afternoon to tell me that of the three candidates they sent for the position I am the employer's favourite and I have a tentatively booked appointment on Monday at 1pm to meet the principal of the school.

Now that it looks as though I have a real chance at cracking this job, this weekend will be spent in a quiet corner somewhere contemplating if this is exactly what I want or will I take a chance on getting an offer of something as good or better. I need to honestly work out my motivations and be sure that it is not the very attractive salary or the opulent surroundings or the really nice people ... will I feel uncomfortable in such rich surroundings? Will I handle the workload? Will I like the team members whom I'll be managing?

Perhaps I should take a leaf from Blue's book and write a "pros-and-cons" list? Or am I just jumping the gun?
